25 Feb 2024 by Paslean, Jon

The Wildcats Varsity Bowling Teams headed to Astro Lanes to battle in the end of the year league tournament. Both the girls and Boys would roll against all the other OAA teams in a baker tournament.
The Boys bowled below average in qualifying and ended up in the 5th seed. That would pit them against OAA runner up Troy Athens. The teams would bowl the best of three baker games. The Boys split games 1 and 2 and would go into a three game roll off. Troy Athen when off and stroked a fine 267 to eliminate the Wildcats. “We didn’t get things rolling until it was late in qualifying. We got a tough opponent in round one and battled but they had a big game against us. Time to focus on regionals now.”
The Varsity Girls bowled well and secured the number one seed. They proceeded to beat North Farmington and Troy to make it to the finals. There they met up with Lake Orion who beat Farmington and a very tough Southfield team. The Wildcats jumped on Lake Orion in game one 161 to 148. The Dragons jumped on Wildcats mistakes and evened the match at 1 win each. Game 3 game down to the last ball thrown and the Dragons win the league tournament 167 to 166.
“When bowling against good teams you can’t make mistakes. We made too many against Lake Orion but nearly still pulled it off. It was a match that could have gone either way. Today we bowled well most of the day but didn’t finish.”
At the League Tournament many Oxfords Keglers were rewarded for their outstanding efforts in the season. Both the Boys and Girls teams were voted the Sportsmanship Award by their fellow competitors.
