OHS vs. Troy (2/2/24)
4 Feb 2024 by Paslean, Jon
The Oxford bowling teams traveled to the home of the Troy Colts on Friday night to battle at 5 Star Lanes. The Wildcats got the weekend started in high scoring matches.
The Wildcat Ladies won both baker games and 8 of 10 matches to dominate the MUCH-improved Troy bowlers. All the Oxford girls won at least one point and Sr Co-Captain Kiley Penzien beat both of her challengers with games of 199 and 158. Kaitlyn Mcfadden 183, Elleanna Ford 177, and Kaya Coffman 188 also bowled well for the lady keglers. The girls’ record is now 6 and 3 on the season and 3 and 2 in the OAA red division.
The Oxford Boys really enjoy 5 Star lanes and the Colts have 2 of the top average bowlers in the OAA. They would need to be sharp to win today and they were. After splitting baker and holding a 6 to 4 lead going into match play the Wildcats started to heat up. They won 3 of 5 matches in the first head up contest With Matt vonKnorring shotting 247, Jacob Kemenah 226, and Nate Alexander 172 all winning points. Jacob Chouinard lost a huge match 256 to 266 but his big score helped the Cats win the team totals. Game two produced even bigger fireworks when vonKnorring ripped off 11 strikes in a row for a sensational 279 game. Chouinard 234 and Kemenah 229 also won their matches as did Eli Wright with a 180. The Wildcat boys averaged over 218 for all 10 games. Final Score Wildcats 23 Colts 7. The boys stay undefeated at 12 and 0 on the season. 6 and 0 in the OAA red Division.
Big shout out to the JV bowlers- Dominic Kempen 244, Chloe Verbeke 201 and Skylar Scott with a 204. Both the Girls JV and Boys JV won their matches.
